Classical Greece (Chapters 5 & 6)

  • AncientGreece.com - links, links, and more links to all manner of web sites which deal with ancient Greek civilization.  
  • Sparta - This is a very thorough web site about the City-State of Sparta, maintained by a professor at Cal.State-Northridge University
  • Showgate: Ancient Greek Sites on the World Wide Web - This is one of the most comprehensive collections of links to Internet information on the Classical World. The Discovery Channel selected this site for a "Valuable Internet Resource Award" in 1998.

The Roman Republic and Empire  

  • The Roman Republic - This site contains a broad range of information on the Roman Republic. You will find time lines, biographies, and information on the major characteristics of the Roman Republic. Recommended.
  • The Early Emperors - A companion site to the one listed above, you will find information on the Roman Emperors from Augustus through Domition here.
  • The Height of the Roman Empire - From the "Good Emperors" to the notorious Commodus, this site chronicles the Empire at its high point.
  • The last two recommended sites cover The Decline and then finally The Collapse of the Western Roman Empire
  • Constantinople - Here you will find a chronological history of the Eastern Roman Empire.

General European History Sites (for all chapters)

  • European History Web Sites - This is a useful web site complied by the Fresno School District. It contains links to many different web sites which deal with European history.  Compiled for high school level students. A good place to start.
